Marist Music

Where prayer and liturgical music find wings

Michael Herry is a Marist Brother working as a pastoral musician, mainly in the Melbourne Archdiocese. Br Herry writes scripture-based chants specifically for the Christian calendar.  Brother Herry is passionate about the interface between music and prayer and the challenge it offers us as Christians sharing the Good News.

Br Michael Herry is a Melbourne-based Marist Brother and Pastoral Musician who has composed and presented liturgical music within the Australian Church for many years. He is passionate about the role music plays in worship and prayer, and in bringing us to a deeper experience of God, on truly ‘holy ground’, far beyond the horizon of mere thoughts and words.

Brother Michael offers music and prayer workshops for parish groups.

In his workshops you will be gently drawn into this sacred space, through the Spirit of God, breathing in our hearts through melody, rhythm, cadence and silence. The workshops then are very much experiential and interactive. Examples of Br Michael’s music for prayer and sacramental worship  are presented, at once both simple and profound, taking their inspiration from the words of Jesus himself, the very Word of God!
